Ian devised a crazy plan. Take his leave of work, move to Montana and start riding a bike everywhere. Somewhere in this time off, Ian decided it would be time to go to the giant music madness that is Bonnaroo. The Big B is a 3 day festival of music from noon to wee morning in the middle of Tennessee with 100,000 other music lovers. Even though I hate crowds, I must admit, this was a storming time and should be enjoyed by all.

So wrapped up were we in the whole affair, that I'm afraid I fell down on picture taking duties and instead enjoyed the tunes of Wilco, Gillian Welch, Mofro, Robert Earl Keen, Galactic, Doc Watson, Robert Randolph, etc. All while enjoying beer from the festival craft brew tent, movies, comedy performances, dj's, buskers and of course the fancy fine travelling bar kit that Ian assembled on the road to Nashville.

The crowd gathers to listen to Wilco play.

Despite studying his camera before the Wilco show, Ian fell prey to the same trance of non-picture taking as I did.

Ohh... artistic. Honestly though, it was hot.. June, Tennessee, Humidity, Impending Rain Storms... You do the math.

Mofro! My favorite home state band. I've convinced everyone I know to at least sample a little taste of the Mofro magic front porch soul. Their website

A long distance shot of one of my favorite performers, Gillian Welch with her musical partner, David Rawlings. Don't let the big hat fool you, that man can play a spirited guitar and Gillian can still sound like she's straight from the Southern hill country and not the Angeleno she is.
